After becoming Bi-district champions, the UIL theater team’s “SHIPWRECKED” is advancing to area. The team has swept the competition at every turn winning first place in Zone A, district, and now bi-district.
“When they call out the name it just isn’t a feeling of oh we advanced, it’s a feeling being proud you got to produce something that people enjoyed and loved. A feeling of knowing you get to be these people in this fictional situation and all interact together” Junior Anneliese Brashears said.
In addition to advancing to the top 48 in the state, the following students were recognized
all-star techie Selene Salcedo, honorable mention all-star cast Leah Tiner, honorable mention all-star cast: Anneliese Brashears, all-star cast Cameron Arviso, best performer Troy Daniel Jones
“When we got to finally perform together in front of an audience that was excited to see the show, it brought back all the memories and jokes made along the way,” Brashears said
This performance of “Shipwrecked ” is where the talented cast took all ages on a journey filled with adventure. Recreating the delights of nineteenth-century humor and entertainment with a modern twist, Donald Margulies’ “SHIPWRECKED” offers self-encouraging information and persuasion
“Go watch theater or be a part of it if you can, because I don’t think people realize how much work goes into it, we all have a core fundamental understanding of sports…so I always engorged people to watch it and try to understand it,” said student-teacher River Thompson “more than as too also see the weeks of rehearsal, and the dedication the students have to perfect it. You don’t have to dedicate your life to it to enjoy it”
