Band holds Christmas concert
December 14, 2021
This week, the Screaming Eagle Band held their annual Christmas concert in the auditorium. The concert lasted 2 hours, and showcased the Jazz band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic band, Concert band, and Caffie middle school band. There was even a special appearance by Principal Scott Walker.
“I can’t name them off the top of my head, but I know that Symphonic band did a song called Christmas Festival, the Concert band performed flourishing Noels, and the Wind Ensemble did ‘‘Twas the night before Christmas,” Director Shawn Athey Said.
Although the band played many songs for the crowd, there was a fair bit of comedic goofs that were done as well. Directors Lauren Getz and Athey dressed up as the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who, and Principal Walker was dressed in a Santa themed suit. It wasn’t difficult getting the principal to agree.
“All I had to do was ask.” Athey said.
Although there is no word on the next band concert or performance yet, the band will go on to compete in the UIL concert band competitions and UIL Solo and Ensemble competitions next semester.
