The Eagles came out victorious 73-59 against the visiting Moody Trojans in another game of district play on Tuesday, Jan 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial gym.

This leaves the Eagles with a 24-6 record, their coach hopeful they can keep adding to the winning side.

“We’re confident we can keep this rolling,” senior Josh Mendoza said. “We all want to keep playing our best as a good stage for playoffs.”

Though scoring a scarce five points in the fourth quarter (compared to scoring over 20 in the last three), the team was able to pull through.

“It was tough at first, mentally to go through a point deficit like that,” senior Brandon De La Pena said. “Our faith in each other is what allowed us to push through.”

The team is slowly gaining momentum, having won against everyone in district but Ray and are confident they can keep it rolling.

“We’re ready for another showdown with Ray,” Mendoza said. “The game was super close last time, and we know it’ll be a super good game.”

Breon Thompson was the leading scorer with 15 points, going 7-12 in attempts. Albert Arismendi was a close second, having scored 13 points.

Their next game will be played against the Victoria East Titans on Friday, Jan 24.
