Our eagle speech and debate team competed in PSJA Early College HS TFA/NIETOC tournament and had great success.

“It felt good since it was the first tournament of the season,” Junior, Sriya Chekuri said.

This was the students first speech and debate competition. The eagles felt good with their placings after this tournament.

“My speech was not at its best yet because I hadn’t made any edits before,” Chekuri said.

They have been preparing for a little before this and will continue to edit their speeches after each tournament they compete in.

“I earned 1st place in my event and it felt pretty good,” Chekuri said.

They earned tons of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes, state qualifying points, and national bids.

“Getting third place felt good but could have been  improved, especially with looking up more information for my subject,” Junior, Benjamin Martinez said.

There could be room for improvement and edits at each tournament in preparation for the next competition.

“My expectations for this competition was to qualify for state which I achieved,” Martinez said.

There will be another competition next week on October 19, 2019  following this competition.
